“University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest and Bucharest City” by Dr. Manuela Roxana DIJMĂRESCU

“University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest and Bucharest City”

by Dr. Manuela Roxana DIJMĂRESCU

———————————————————————————————————–

University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest (UPB) is the oldest and most prestigious technical university of Romania. Founded in 1818, with a 200-year tradition made possible by the efforts of some of the greatest Romanian professors, its forte relies upon creating knowledge through research and technological innovation, as well as through its implementation by means of education and professional training at a European level.

University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest consists of 15 different faculties and develops and implements study programs for numerous engineering fields, from computer science, robotics and manufacturing engineering to business engineering and management. Its primary mission consists of bringing together education, training and scientific research programs, in order to prepare professionals capable of adapting to the requirements of the current market economy and new technologies, with the goal of promoting principles of sustainable development and environmental protection.

Bucharest is the national capital and the largest city of Romania. A city with a rich heritage and cultural life revolving around numerous cultural and historical landmarks. The Palace of Parliament (the second largest building in the world), the Romanian Atheneum, the Romanian Opera, the History Museum, the Village Museum, the Old Art Museum, to name only a few, will offer visitors a chance to unwind within a peaceful, relaxing and inspiring cultural environment.

Part of Bucharest’s charm are its gardens, parks and open nature spaces. In addition to being nature retreats, these parks are filled with historical and cultural significance. Cismigiu Gardens is the oldest green area from Bucharest’s city center. King Michael I Park (former Herestrau) is the largest park in northern Bucharest, being built around Herastrau lake. Carol I Park, located in the southern-central area of the city, is home to the Mausoleum of the unknown soldier. The heart of Bucharest, the Old Town (the Bucharest Historical Center), an array of historical buildings, hosts cultural, entertainment as well as financial institutions, including the National Bank.

WP Leader Meeting.

WP Leader Meeting on May 5, 2021
——————————————————
Despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, our members have been working relentlessly to move all activities forwards. On May 5, all leaders got together at the Zoom meeting to update and learn the progress in all workpackages (WPs).
.
For WP1, Dr. Rui Lima and Prof. Athakorn Kengpol said that we are testing our survey questionnaire before launching the official one in June when some of our Facebook fans will be invited to voice out.
.
For WP2, Dr. Cathal and Dr. Pisut informed us that they are preparing for our training program. We will emphasize competence development. We have a list of experts for all 10 modules and a list of our 12 Thai trainers who will go through our Train the Trainer Program. An assessment form has been developed to ensure the quality of our training module. It will be interesting.
.
For WP3, Prof. Thanate and Prof. Kanchana have been preparing to schedule training activities. They are waiting for a signal from WP1 and WP2 to start their operation. If we can offer one module to our trainee in June, that will be fantastic. Therefore, if you or your colleagues are interested to join our training program, please register at t.ly/7chE.
.
For WP4, Dr. Danaipong voiced out QC’s point of view on the progress.
.
For WP5, Dr. Tuanyot and Dr. Pisut reported the successful stories of WP5 on promoting the project and the increasing number of registration. As of now, about 53 instructors have registered for our training program. More than 90% are from Rajabhat Universities from all parts of the country. Almost 90% of them have at least 6 years of teaching experience. About 56% of them are interested in upskilling and reskilling in some topics of interest, and the remaining 46% would like to pursue our non-degree Master level certificate which they have to pass seven modules.
.
For WP6, Dr. Pisut shared with all the leaders again about the process applied in this project, informed them that all WPs have performed very well under the current situation, and thanked all the WP leaders.
